We stopped this morning for coffee and pasteries. Coffee was old and bitter. One pastry was overdone and dry. The other had so little filling, I couldn't hardly taste it. Skip this place. It has totally gone down hill.

French bakery , for real . The pastries are sublime . Last time I had an apricot Danish thing --- a " moulin puff " & it was amazing .I suggest always getting a to-go baked treat ... You will feel wise & smug as you savor it that evening .Not the same stuff you see in American cafés . Odd the way you order your drink in one area -- the attached coffee shop next door LC Coffee ---and food in another . Coffee at LC ( next door)is robust !Service at both places can be slow . Expect VERY slow for sandwiches or " real food ". Not a " quiet cafe" ... Yoga moms and their squealing tots make sure of that . The prices are defiantly high- Butter is expensive . Despite it all -- I return time & again so 4stars ! UPDATE : Got a rum cake with whipped cream and white chocolate shavings. Just amazing ! The cake was flavorful and light --- not "wet" as liquor cakes can sometimes be .EVERYONE at the party was raving about it & asking where I got it .

Several weeks ago, we came here for breakfast. I was immediately excited upon arrival, as they had just made a batch of baguettes that looked delicious, and I stared longingly at them for awhile. For breakfast, I ordered iced tea and the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich on a baguette and everything was amazing. We sat and talked for awhile after breakfast- the waitress/owner (?) was super friendly, and randomly offered us a small free dessert after breakfast, which was also delicious! The display case was full of other delicious-looking sweets, and the table next to ours were eating crepes that looked perfect. Overall, a cute place with delicious food and friendly staff!

This place had the worst cobbler I have ever tasted. Dry, jello-type blueberry filling, bad. The brownie was so bad, no one could eat it.

Driving from Denver to Col Springs, my wife and I made a special stop at this little shop to eat breakfast. My brother used to live here in Castle Rock, and this was his family's favorite places to eat. I bought the Cream Cheese Danish and my wife bought the Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant. Both were so good! Before we left, we bought a to-go box of some more tasty pastries. Staff was very friendly and patient as I stared at all their offerings trying to make a decision

I ordered my mother-in-law's birthday cake here. The cake itself was elegant and delicious. The ordering process was fun and engaging. They take the time to really understand what you want, and they're artists. Just a wonderful place and wonderful people.

OMG! My husband surprised me with a wonderful cake he had Dream Pastries make, a Tres Leches cake. It was devine, or should i say, "dreamy." I dont know why this isnt 5 stars, nor do i intend to read why. I have given my feedback, and i will totally be back to try more things.

I love this place! I'm a repeat customer and bring my company here like a tourist stop. I try to limit myself say, to a spinach feta quiche and a cookie. The place is small and darling, connected to a coffee shop which is convenient. The pastry display is picture worthy. I love the many colored cake stands that decorate the walls and are for rent. I hear the baker is french and his pastries are wonderful. If it was in Parker I'd go too often!

Dream pastries is not a place for someone on a diet, or even someone who is trying to behave themselves. This is a place to live a little, to have a raspberry croissant and not feel the least bit guilty about it. I have tried several of the offerings here, and everything is subtle in sweetness, but over the top in deliciousness. The pastries are pretty much the best thing I've ever tasted, and the baguettes are just as they should be - crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I've had the opportunity to show up early enough on a Saturday morning to get a croissant fresh from the oven and it was heavenly.

Adorable place in downtown Castle Rock. We are visiting from Chicago and celebrating my daughter's birthday out here so we looked on yelp before we arrived to find a bakery to pre- order a cake. We stopped in to pick it up and enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches, fresh squeezed juice, and the ambience. Service is a little slow but everything is made fresh and being a Chicagoan I realize I need to slow down especially on vacation. Could have sat there all day but we had birthday festivities planned. Everyone loved the cake...it was chocolate filled with custard and strawberries with whipped cream frosting. I loved seeing the owner/baker come out from the back with all of his freshly made treats!

Best. Bread. Ever. Not only do my husband, kids, and I love their house and ciabatta; but apparently so do our dogs! Sent the kids to Dream Pastry yesterday for a loaf to have with dinner. They dropped it off and we all ran a quick errand. When we returned, first thing we saw inside the house was the white bag and a few crumbs. Yep, Rex and Molly devoured the entire loaf. We were all ticked about having to resort to a loaf of white bread from the freezer but at least we know our dogs have exquisite taste! Guess I'll send kids back today for another loaf!

Cute little hole-in-the-wall place along the main drag of downtown Castle Rock. There's an attached coffee shop right next door where you can get the perfect cuppa to accompany your delicious pastry. They have tons of local artists represented all over the walls and a wonderful atmosphere. Oh, and the pastries are damn good, too!

Nice little place. It is cozy and inviting. The bakery has a beautiful selection of pastries and cakes. I had the delicious Nutella crepe with a mediocre cup of coffee. I find it a bit overpriced. I was going to take home some pastries but felt $3 per item was excessive. There is a coffee house attached to the bakery that is accessible through an adjacent open door. I should've gone next door for a latte or better coffee and half & half instead of using their Coffee Mate. Coffee Mate at an upscale, pricey French bakery?? That was disappointing. Staff was friendly and nice though.

This place is not just for desserts, although they are delicious and wonderful eye candy. My husband and I tried their lunch. Incredible!!! We had the french dip and the "little goat" along with the cheese and fruit tray (yes, we were hungry) along with Italian soda. The french dip was the best my husband ever had and he is from Chicago. The melted cheese on top of the bread put it over the top. My little goat included goat cheese and prosciutto and was great. It included a salad which was perfect. We came back a few days later for some cookies, meringue, more Italian soda and conversation with the owner. Go there and try everything!

Dream baked our wedding cake eight years ago... And they kept a picture of it! It was delightful to re-connect.

Personally, this review is based more on the cashier than the food, albeit, maybe better if you arrive earlier. I came here with really high hopes as I love a French dine in...maybe my hopes were too high. My mom met the owner a few days before and went on and on about how wonderful and passionate she is about her business--I hope to meet her next time I go. However, upon our arrival, we encountered a Spicoli-type fella with much less enthusiasm. To be honest, he ruined any experience I was trying to have. He acted put out by our questions, dressed like a skater and overall had a poor attitude. But Dream Pastries is quaint and the menu enjoyable. My only suggest would be heat food by another method. As I just learned to make croissants, I have a deeper appreciation for how incredible these croissants are and to top it off, it isn't everyday you can find a place that offers Croque Madame or quiche so overall, it is a great find and I'm very excited to return, I just hope I encounter the owner and not the attendant.

Well, I was walking by and decided to see if they were open. They were! Excellent. Oh, walked and it was closing time. Door closed in my face. Oh well. No Pastries for you!

Food was ok... Way too overpriced. They advertise like they are a French bake shop, but they aren't... It is far from authentic. And their gelato was melted and refrozen, causing ice crystals... Plus they didn't have any normal and/or traditional flavors of gelato. I highly do not recommend this!

A friendly place in downtown Castle Rock. The quiches and sugar cookies are delicious, eclairs have just the right touch of sweetness and the fruit tarts taste balanced (not too much cream or fruit!). I've run into friendly locals here who just start up a conversation with you, no big deal! What's a little suspicious though is I don't think I've ever run into the same person running the register, ever. And it's a little expensive considering it is Castle Rock, not downtown Denver. Still a nice place to have in town.

Dream Pastries is located downtown, in a small store that's been decorated with local art. It's got 5 or 6 tables for dining in, and also does to-go orders and custom cakes. The one time I tried to order a cake they couldn't take an order because it was a holiday weekend, so I can't comment on the cakes. They also have a crepe menu, but I've never had one here and I've never seen anyone else order one. I come here for lunch once or twice a month. Castle Rock badly needs more places like this (not a chain, not located in the middle of a strip mall, not awash with fried food) so I try hard to support places like this. That said, if there were more places around that weren't fast food joints, I'd probably eat at those places and not come here as much. The food here is good, not great. The cold sandwiches and salads are OK but I'd like to see a little more imagination. The hot items are not made fresh but sit in the bakery case and are re-heated when you order them. The pastries too are OK but not great. The French pastries are lacking in taste while the cookies and similar items are on the greasy side (and today my cookie was hard as a rock and tasted stale). What really keeps me from giving this place higher marks is the bizarre service. I'm never greeted when I walk in, never asked if I'm ready to order, never thanked when I pay or when I'm leaving- I never get that "you're our customer, thanks for coming in, we're glad you're here, what can we do for you" feeling. The drones at Chile's seem happier to see me. The food frequently takes a long time to come (and there are only 5 tables in the place) and they don't bring your drink while you're waiting. But what really gets me? They've got the soda machine in the dining area, where you could easily refill your own drink, but they get upset if you do so. However, they also never come over and offer to refill it. In general, an OK place to go if you want to support local businesses and if you're not looking for anything too creative and don't mind mediocre service. If this place were located in a big city I'd probably rate it lower because I'd expect better, but because it's in Castle Rock I cut it some slack.

This place is cute and quirky, and delish. They have really great sandwiches and crepes, and of course pastries. Looking for a place that's awesome, and not a chain, this is it. The caesar salad is FULL of garlic, mmm! Bring gum. I love the crepe wrap, and the hot ham and cheese on croissant.

Recommendation: An interesting little bakery/cafe in downtown Castle Rock with really good food, but it's under-staffed and a little pricey for what you get. Food: I have to say the food here really impressed me. The breakfast crepe I had was delicious and the fruit tart I ordered with it was pretty good too. My wife enjoyed her pastries too. Price: This is my biggest issue with this place. The value of what you get for what you pay just isn't in line with a typical breakfast place. Overall we got 3 pastries, a crepe, and 2 drinks - less than what I would normally consider a full breakfast for 2 adults and the bill was over $25. Service: They were a bit understaffed when we went in here on a Friday morning. They have 2 ordering counters at separate ends of the space and only one person working at each counter so they were both running back and forth between counters. Overall, we got what we ordered fast enough, it just seemed like the employees were more stressed than they should have been. Who knows, maybe they had too much coffee already. Ambiance: This restaurant is in a prime location for downtown Castle Rock, but it must have been 2 separate places at one time so it feels a little disjointed. It's a little confusing too since they have 2 counters for ordering. Kids Most kids would dig this place. They can see choose their pastries from the glass case and get a hot chocolate to go with it.

At our Farmers Market yesterday, there was a pastry queen......Her and her husband have a shop in Castle Rock, and she was in Woodland Park today spreading the gospel of "Dream Pastries" the name of their shop, and Vicky and I became believers. Though we didn't purchase the very beautiful healthy fresh fruit pie we first saw, we did carry home a box full of some amazing pastries....simply the best I have ever had. So if you are passing through Castle Rock, stop in, I told her you would be coming by. Just ask the first cop you see, I'm sure they all know where it's located. My wife and I travel to Denver from time to time, with Castle Rock being midway, Dream Pasties will serve double duty for our wants and needs. Talk about a dream come true!

This place would be an A-Star establishment if the owners had a little humility. They're French, so their pastries are good and legit, (I used to get Kaiser rolls hot and yummy on my way to school) but why so snobby? I've known quite a few girls who have worked there and they all have horror stories about the owners...why else would they rotate through new employees so quickly? Other than that this quaint little pastry shop is cute with a small village feel - and smells delectable. I just wish the service was better.

You can't go wrong with anything here. They are known for amazing pastries, but even the lunch items, especially the crepes, are very good. Worth every dollar(and not too expensive).

We found the lady behind the counter very friendly and helpful. The pastries were a dream - similar quality to that marvelous French bakery in Santa Fe NM. No complaints. Would definitely go there again. As for price, you get what you pay for. You want pastries made by a French chef? Then you pay for it!

The pastries are good but the owner was an ass the one time I tried to order a birthday cake. Service in general is borderline hostile some days.

Cookies are overbaked, hard like a rock and greasy like a stick of butter. My latte was a cup of lukewarm milk with a bit of burnt grounds on the bottom. Make the trip to starbucks off of plum creek or founders instead.

Found this place by accident- the restaurant across the street was closed for lunch, so we ate at Dream. It was very good. The food was fresh and tasty. The pastry case looked wonderful and the benet was too die. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that the bakery was very cluttered with eclectic stuff ALL over the place, floor to ceiling. It may be part of their charm but I like my bakery to look tidy (like Gaspare's Bistro & Bakery in Parker).

Oooooooolala! I am so enchanted with this place! We recently moved to Castle Rock from MN and Dream Pastries was one of the first places we wandered into. I'm not gonna lie the case of pastries, cookies, and other devilish goodies is OVERWHELMING for a lover of such things! There was so much it was hard to decide! We chose the ham and cheese croissant which was melt in your mouth heavenly goodness, the chocolate mouse and a sugar cookie for my munchkin. All were delish and exceeded my expectations. They have this charming collection of cake stands tucked behind the pastry case that held my attention and it is just exactly what you think a bakery SHOULD be. The only thing that kind-of messed with the vibe a little was the huge ugly soda dispenser tucked in the back left corner. Cute patio with umbrellas and lots of seating. We brought home a loaf of bread for dinner and it was really good as well. This has become my go to place to bring my daughter when she wants a special little treat.

A few years ago I would have jumped into line to give DP five stars but it has changed... for the worse. I am just finishing the Crepe Wrap that now seems to be a lettuce wrap... one 1mm thick slice of turkey/side. I am mostly on the fly and last time ended up with something I didn't order and was too filled with raw onions to contemplate eating before meeting with clients. A few months ago DP attempted to add a surcharge to credit card charges... when I tried to tell them I thought it was illegal in CO, I was shot down by a snotty employee (it IS illegal in CO and after I called with CO statute info, charge is gone and replaced with $5 min charge). Pastries are to die for but they are getting smaller too. Never ordered a cake.but have taken home excellent breads. I wish DP well but they need to realize there is an end to loyalty... tho I am not there yet.

Dream Pastries whips up some of the best pastries I have ever had, let alone in Colorado. The owners are so friendly, and I love the feel of the bakery, even if it is a bit small. Their sandwiches are really well sized, and their cakes are delicious. It's also conveniently connected to Crow Foot Valley coffee, I believe, who turns out some of the best hot chocolate ever. Everything is made fresh every day, and is absolutely impeccable, so this is a great option for anyone heading down towards Castle Rock or beyond.

Really good breakfast sandwich. My wife and I had a sandwich each and a pop and it was only $11. The service was good but a little slow. Overall it was a good experience. Some of the pictures they have on the walls of Castle Rock and Surrounding areas are really neat.

Dream Pastries is an authentic European bakery, down to the last detail. Their pastries, sandwiches, cakes, and breads are top notch. I lived in Europe for 6 years and in San Francisco for 8 and have never found a better European bakery in the US. Everything is made fresh each day. The pastries and cakes are to die for. They aren't as sweet as American pastries or cakes, which I much prefer. Their jalapeno sticks are SO good. I always have to pick up 2 or 3 when I drop by. The sandwiches are my favorite lunch time snack complete with very fresh buttered bread, sprouts, and various meats and cheeses of your choice. I always get the California sandwich with avocado and turkey. The complaints from one of the previous reviewers, I would consider compliments. Fresh croissants are supposed to be flaky, extremely flaky. If it's not flaky, it's not fresh, not the other way around. My only complaint is that take frequent extended holidays where the shop is closed. It's a standard practice in Europe, but disappointing when I've been telling visitors about this great place that is closed unexpectedly. But, that doesn't keep me from coming back later or giving it 5 stars as the very best bakery around.

Yummy! Oh, definitely. And the atmosphere is just...swell, and dreamlike, definitely. Come for either the atmosphere or the pastries. Oh, the quiche is especially good, but if you're like me and just got back from Paris, you will not be impressed by the Pain au chocolate, in fact they don't even call it that. They call it chocolate croissant, and the croissants leave something to be desired. BUT I'm definitely not dissing on the place..all I have is love. It is quaint, lovely, swell. Come here!
